One of my favorite Twitter posters, Black Seed Cuisine, redid the pie crust for the Pillsbury prize winning Honey and Oat Granola Pie. Now, this is a healthy, delicious pie that anyone can make. I would like to thank Black Seed Cuisine for sharing this recipe with us on Twitter and highly suggest you follow them to find out more about black cumin seeds.

Honey and Oat Granola Pie
Ingredients
- Pie Crust Ingredients:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup of cold butter, cut into chunks
- 1/4 cup of ice cold water
- dash of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground black seeds (nigella, black cumin, seeds)
- Pie Ingredients:
- 1 stick butter melted
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup corn syrup
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla,
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 4 Oat and Honey granola bars, crushed (3/4 cup)
- ¼ cup oatmeal
- ½ cup walnuts, chopped
- ¼ cup choc chips
- 1 teaspoon of black cumin seeds, ground
Instructions
- In a food processor place the cold butter, salt and flour. Pulse slowly until you get a cornmeal like texture.
- Slowly add in the cold water.
- The flour will form a ball. Remove from the food processor and place in a plastic bag and flatten.
- Leave in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- When ready to use, remove the pie dough from the refrigerator and allow to set on the counter for 15 min.
- Preheat your oven to a hot 350 degrees F.
- In a large bowl add in the above ingredients and pour into the pie crust. Cook the pie in the oven for 40 to 50 minutes.
- 15 minutes before the pie is done, cover the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil to avoid the edges getting too brown.
- Allow the pie to cool for ½ hour before cutting.
