Hot Toddy
Ingredients
- 1 pot of strong tea (You can use regular black tea, but I’ve found that ginger tea increases the effectiveness of the hot toddy and also soothes any tummy ache I might have. Also, take a look at herbal green or white teas, if you do not want caffeine.)
- Juice of half a fresh lemon1 jigger (2 oz) of brandy/cognac (You can also use whisky or rum, if you prefer the taste.)
- 1 Tbsp. Raw Honey (I recommend our Wildflower Honey as it is sweet and very potent.)
Instructions
- Pour tea into a sturdy mug, leaving about 3/4" head room.
- Add fresh lemon, brandy, and honey.
- Stir vigorously to dissolve the honey.
- Drink while warm.
Notes
You can also make a very soothing honey cough preparation by making a simple syrup of equal parts honey and water, heated on the stove until the honey dissolves, with the juice of 2 fresh lemons. I put the homemade cough syrup in a canning jar that I’ve run through the dishwasher to sterilize it. Yummy and very effective.
