In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, we are sharing a traditional Irish Oatmeal recipe we found during our research on Mr. Breakfast’s blog. Oatmeal and whiskey are two traditional Irish food products, and we thought you’d like to say, “Good Morning,” to your family on St. Paddy’s Day the Irish Way.
We had an idea that would make this recipe a little more interesting. We found a great review of Bushmill’s Irish Honey Whiskey and feel that you could use this product and cut down on the amount of honey and/or sugar in the original recipe. For honey lovers, you all know you work with a recipe by taste anyway!
As far as what flavor honey we would use for this recipe, we would probably use our Wildflower Honey, as it will stand up to the whiskey.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces steel-cut oatmeal
- 10 ounces heavy cream
- 3 Tablespoons Irish whiskey
- 2 teaspoons runny honey
- 12 ounces raspberries
- 1/3 cup sugar
Instructions
- Spread oatmeal out on a large cookie sheet. Toast under broiler (about 375 degrees) for about 10 minutes, stirring often until oatmeal is a golden tan color. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Whip the cream until it holds its shape. Stir in the honey and whiskey, followed by the toasted oatmeal.
- In a medium bowl, toss the raspberries and sugar until berries are well coated.
- In a serving glass, layer the berries and cream alternately to create a beautiful parfait.
- Serve and enjoy.
